Changes to our own work, on the record
Three things can change after an edition publishes, and they are kept apart. The sources revise their own figures; that is noted in the next edition and never rewrites an earlier one. Field Assembly corrects an error in its own text or calculation; that is dated on the affected page, given a new version, listed here, and the original text stays visible. And later editions add new periods; they never replace earlier editions.
Corrections and revisions to editions
No correction or revision has been made to any edition.
Source revisions
BLS marks the most recent four months of a producer price index preliminary and may revise them. USGS survey figures are estimated and preliminary. Census revises recent months of housing starts. Each edition quotes the values the source published at capture time, marks preliminary and estimated values as such, and, when a source revision changes a previously quoted comparison by 0.5 points or more, says so in the uncertainty section of the next edition.
